And that's where I think our emotions just like can muddy the waters of what we're experiencing.

And sometimes we do things when we're not quite ready.

And I don't even want to talk about whether or not I think he's ready.

He made a choice.

And the choice was to go ahead and do this interview and to speak.

Yeah.

He attempted to take the high ground, I think, in many instances in this.

I think there's something to be said for taking the high ground and even showing up to the sentencing and the court proceedings and going through this as a parent who doesn't have your kid anymore and just has to witness the kid who took your son's life going through this entire process.

And you take the higher ground when you're in court and asked to leave because they're going to show your kid's autopsy photos and the stab wounds that he experienced.

And

He showed up to sentencing and wanted Carmelo's parents to be there for their son so that he could be there with them for what was about to take place.

So, yeah, I think there might have been some shortcomings, but I think the high ground was attempted.

on several occasions here and to attempt the high ground with some of the people that we're talking about in this video and with what they're doing and saying, whilst while you're still getting death threats and like calls and being called a white nationalist and all these things, it's really, really tough.

So yeah, I'm taking into account the fact that like he's doing pretty good in his response given the plate that's been handed to him.

It's tough too, because I think like as a father in circumstances like this, this was the moment to sort of step, whatever moment you decide to step into the public eye and actually address it, it was the moment to really get out all your grievances, all the things that you've thought about over this entire year.

What's the message that you want to impress upon the world after experiencing something like this?

And if you don't give yourself the proper time to let some of that animosity sort of settle a bit,

this is the clip that ends up going viral.

So now it's like, this is Jeff Metcalf's response to his son being murdered.

And that's just so unfortunate.
