Everyone should care about abortion because abortion is everything.

And also,

healthcare is such a complicated ecosystem that when you fuck with abortion, it all crumbles.

So what you hear Jessica saying is that if you're someone who needs to be screened for cervical cancer, you are not going to be able to do so

in an anti-choice state because those healthcare providers are so under threat, so criminalized, so facing prosecution that they have to leave your state, which means you can't get your cancer screening, which means you can't go give birth in a safe environment, which means there is no plucking abortion out of the ecosystem and taking it away.

It screws up the whole thing.

And abortion belongs there.

I'm not an apologist.

I'm just saying that there is no way

to protect women's health without protecting abortion.

One of the things I value most about your work, Jessica, is that you are a decoder of the things that happen because the extremists are so tricky and smart about what they do, that they're not coming out and saying that this is what they're doing.

It's always coded in some kind of language that

that makes it sound like something you might want to get behind, like equal protection, for example.

I think that sounds great.

What you need to know about that is that that is a code word for a very, very highly extremist word.

I would love to go through some of this, just kind of decoding some of these words that we need to be on the lookout for to understand what the end game is of those words, because they don't sound inherently bad.
