So the last time I had spoke with her, she had told me how to get my plane ticket from the kiosk at the airport.

And that was the last that I heard from her, especially with, you know, even just not answering my mom or my stepdad.

Just the fact of not answering me, knowing that I'm coming so soon was very odd.

Yeah, I mean, for her to not call or text, that was the biggest thing.

I mean, she would always, if she didn't answer when you called, she would still call you back.

So for her to not return a call that was just unlike her or even just to send a text, you know, I'm laying down or, you know, something.

It was a text message.

I believe I have it screenshotted from an old phone.

And I had asked her how to get my plane ticket because that was like maybe my second time traveling alone.

And she said, you know, I said, how do I get my plane ticket?

And she says, you have to go to the kiosk at the airport and print it out there.

So last last time I spoke with her.

I'd say maybe a few days of her not replying.

My stepdad tried calling some precinct in the NYPD several times, and they would not file a missing persons report with her age, and they said that she's not...

mentally incapacitated or anything that you know she's not on drugs she's not this and they're like oh she's where she wants to be she's not missing she's 24 she's doing what she wants but that was not like her so we knew better but no one wanted to listen seems like it's the case with everyone no one wanted to take anyone serious was there a point where you did find police taking her disappearance seriously

We had a contact with the old head of the sheriff's department out here in Erie County.

My uncle had known him very well, so he actually contacted him and had him reach out to someone in New York City to take it serious and file the report, thankfully.

I believe they started about a month after, give or take.

I was 15.

I was at my cousin's house just watching TV and all of a sudden my phone rings and I see Melissa's name pop up on the screen and I'm like, oh, thank God.
