Yeah, and I'm in the curiosity business, you know, like I love to learn and I guess like thinking about this from an optimistic angle, I can understand wanting to visit the site of a famous tragedy in order to maybe connect with the dead or to pay homage to them in some way.
But I think where this goes from an interesting, quirky, and maybe even actively respectful thing to do to a cult.
Cult is where you're like sacrificing time and money, putting it into the coffers of potentially nefarious figures, and then doing all these mental gymnastics to justify it.
But really, what you're doing is just like wanting to prove how special you are and how like unique of a life that you're living.
I mean, that is very culty ultimately.
Yeah, and you know, memorial sites have faced repeated controversies over this like dark tourist attitude, including selfies and content creation at sites of genocide like Auschwitz.
