Your classroom has all of those different shapes, and that's fine and that's wonderful.
And from the perspective of
What we call neuronormative.
We're using the word neuronormative because we think it's less value judgment than neurotypical, to be really frank, you know.
Typical is a word that means there should be a certain thing.
And so we we're trying to introduce the idea that neuronormative is the standards that society sort of has for what we would expect.
But when you're looking at things from a neuronormative perspective, you're leaving out an entire amazing population of students who have really interesting perspectives to bring to the table that other people
should try to understand instead of just the other way around.
I think fear on a bunch of different levels, right?
I think fear is is the biggest driver of avoiding change.
There's fear around stigma of labeling students, right?
If we call them neurodivergent, if we tell them are autistic or they have ADHD or are ADHD or however they identify, right?
If they're dyslexic.
What does that mean?
Right?
What are we going to do to them?
What are we gonna do to our systems, right?
There's also fear in change.
