So it is very important that students get exposed to the workplace because that is the place where you learn these skills that are needed in the company and then later on in the labor market.
So what we observe across Europe is that a lot of countries do have a vocational education training system.
But it's not dual.
It's very school-based.
So students learn the skills in the classroom.
And yeah, you can figure it's not really effective because teachers cannot teach you the stuff that is needed in the workplace.
So that's why we always say students need exposure to the workplace.
And that's the only thing that will work and produce skills that are later on needed in the labor market.
I mean, a kid at age 16...
doesn't know what they want to do for their life, right?
So you have to design these programs that they have something at the end of the program, but they are not tied to that specific occupation.
They can go and change their careers.
They can go and go to higher education if they want.
So if they don't, then that's also fine.
They will have a job.
They can always return to that job.
Even if they go to the university and they fail, they can go back to that job.
So they have a security.
