In full transparency, my wife is a big fan of your podcast.
She told me what y'all are doing and insisted that I write in.
Amy, our family has listened to you and the crew on The Bobby Bone Show for years.
It's become part of our daily routine again on the drive to school each morning.
But I wanted to tell you about a very special teacher in my life, Mrs. Meyer.
She's one of the kindest, most patient, and most generous people I've ever known.
She has dedicated her life not only to educating children, but to loving them well.
She has a gift for making every child feel seen, heard, and valued in a way that really shows them anything is possible.
And I know this because she's my mom.
When my brothers and I were growing up, one of her students' parents was involved in a serious accident.
The student and his sister ended up staying with our family for a few nights while their parents were in the hospital because they didn't have any family nearby.
We were all just kids ourselves, and I can only imagine how scared and overwhelmed they must have felt not knowing what was happening to their parents while suddenly finding themselves in someone else's home.
But if anyone was going to make them feel safe, loved, and cared for, it was my mom.
What made my wife prompt me to send this was our family tradition that is still growing strong.
That week, those students stayed with us.
We played a lot of Monopoly to break the ice and help everyone get their mind off the accident.
And after the kids' parents were back home, we kept up that Monopoly game with them at least once a month until they graduated high school.
And still to this day, when I take my kids to see my mom and dad for dinner, it's almost a requirement that we play a game of Monopoly after.
