Well, one of the things that I really enjoy is true crime.
You know, I feel like sometimes the paranormal and true crime go hand in hand just because we end up in a lot of locations where terrible things have happened or they have a really bloody history.
And so the criteria for this book was I wanted to go to locations and feature locations that had hauntings that were associated with a true crime of some sort.
And so...
And also, the first book was domestic, so it was all US-based locations.
And this one, because Food to Die For had so many international fans, this one I wanted to make sure we also went international.
So Cuisine to Kill For has 60 recipes, but half of them are international locations.
And so that was kind of the criteria, a bloody history, some sort of recipe that we could make at home associated with it and ghosts and, you know, international is great too.
So it was hard to narrow it down, but we came up with some really great places.
Well, I think that anytime you have some sort of tragic event that kind of, and again, this is all my theories, of course, you know, I'm not, I never speak in absolutes, but I do think that when you have a tragedy or even in some of these locations, you have more than one tragedy or build up emotionally to a tragedy, like that somehow makes some sort of imprint on a location.
And I think sometimes that energy causes some sort of activity or haunting that
But then I think you double up on that and you have people who are so fascinated with what has happened in these locations that they go in time and time again and they're thinking about what happened there.
They're thinking about the tragedy.
They're thinking about the murder or whatever it was that happened.
And they're bringing that energy with them, that kind of nervous curiosity.
And I think that also kind of can make some sort of imprint on a location, right?
I personally...
I hate defining people by their end.
And so I really do try when I go into these locations to focus a lot on how these people live before this horrible thing happened, because I know, you know, you or I, we wouldn't want to forever be remembered by, you know, a few seconds that resulted in our murders.
We'd like to be remembered for how we lived.
