He is the man accused of gunning down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a Manhattan hotel in December 2024.
prompting a nationwide manhunt.
Last week, local Altoona station WTAJ, a CBS affiliate, got its hands on the 911 call leading up to his arrest.
First Veronica, just set the scene for us of where this call was made and why.
So they're just really upset, and they're like coming to me, and I was like, well, I can't approach them, you know?
How law enforcement handled that arrest has been the subject of court hearings we've talked about on the podcast.
Luigi Mangione's defense argued that the police illegally searched his backpack without a warrant and that his Miranda rights weren't read to him before they questioned him.
