He worked continuously throughout.

yeah he would have drove drove himself to Sligo I think it was on a Monday morning I think he used to go once a week and he'd go on a Monday morning and get his bloods done and then he'd spend the whole day there and he'd get his you know you're hooked up and he gets his chemotherapy treatment and he'd have his book with him and he'd sit and he'd read his book for a couple hours while he was there and he'd drive home and he sailed every Tuesday Thursday Sunday like he very much he used to describe it himself that he was living with cancer okay

as opposed to fighting it yeah fighting cancer he very much saw it as this is something that's manageable i'm following all the medical advice um yes they found something in my lung they've operated they've they're telling me that i now require chemotherapy to to get rid of this um and he did that for about a six month period and by all accounts throughout the scans it was you know

going quite well.

They were happy with it and about two months after that it ultimately ended up going to his brain.

So that would have been in May 2018.

He then went to Bowman.

He would have had two different surgeries and a shunt put in in Bowman Hospital.

It was under Professor Bulger was dealing with him then.

And when it went to the brain, it probably was very different.

You know, that's the point, I suppose, at which, like he still would have said, I'm living with cancer.

But all of a sudden, the ability to work was stopped.

The sailing was halted.

And I think that was the time for him that it became very difficult because now...

you're not living with cancer so much as you're now battling cancer, you know, and at that point it was, it would have been stage four, it was terminal.

So from the point of doing a screening test to passing away was exactly two and a half years.

So he just was...

terribly unfortunate and that having done everything right all his life he just had an exceptionally aggressive form that medics described as being very rare that they couldn't really get a handle on.

I mean we would look back with time and say now with the passage of time and say
