So hard.
Hate the event because he died two weeks before it.
That I just am like, and then a friend of mine, good friend from school died on the 28th of December.
Wow.
So like literally we buried dad that was Christmas.
The same year.
Sarah died, yeah.
so that so Christmas is just I hate Christmas so I just have to leave to write off Christmas and you just go that's the thing that happens in December try to make the most of it we now do something very different we now like well just the three of us actually are at home now and have dinner and that's lovely and my sister's a great cook and she kind of like makes a huge effort of the day and the meal and you know so that's lovely and then we go to our neighbours for drinks that night and that kind of that's good because that
you just change well it's a different day yeah there's no point in you can't recreate the memories that were there so you have to you just have to create new ones so that's what we do but during lockdown then but lockdown I think because you have to face it don't you yeah well yeah and like I would be somebody Jesus I wouldn't have had a spare afternoon in the months after dad died like every weekend every night every day I had something planned so I was that's what people do yeah I was never alone with my thoughts do you want to talk about that
no whatever gets you through listen my attitude would be whatever gets you through exactly yeah do you know what if you want to go on a two week long holiday and spend every bit of savings you have do you know what go and do it if you want to sit and have a couple of glasses of your top shelf whiskey go and do it whatever gets you through there's no rule book there's no like this is how you're supposed to do it no do whatever gets you through but it can in quieter moments come in you know yeah and that's I think that's okay too yeah it was forced on me in COVID that the world stopped
And was that... Did it go a bit... Do you know what?
Dark.
No, I actually...
I would actually look back at parts of the COVID lockdown and I'm like, I obviously see the impact it would have had on my mum and my sister in the pub being closed for such a long period, you know, and how difficult that was for them and so many others in the hospitality business.
But for me on a personal level, there was definitely the first part, like the initial part, the first stages of the COVID shutdown that I actually thought, God, I needed that.
I came out of a bit of the lockdown for the first while and went,
The first bit, say, right?
I don't mean the prolonged period, but the first bit.
And I kind of went, on a personal level, I actually needed the world to stop for a little bit.
And just let me catch my breath a bit and try and process what has happened and what we've gone through.
