So they're providing a lot of, they're providing cheap liquidity to the biggest global mega banks.
who then turn around and use the funding to buy cash-like instruments that they need, like treasury securities, to meet what's called the liquidity coverage ratio.
And at the same time, there's separate regulation for money market mutual funds, which is a pocket of the mutual fund industry that kind of blew up during the crisis.
They were destabilizing investor runs out of money funds.
And I guess some of the changes to the money fund market encourages money funds to buy debt that is issued by the federal homeowner banks.
So you have this situation where if, in a future crisis, money funds become kind of skittish again about what they're buying, if one regional federal home-owned bank gets into trouble and the money funds kind of panic because they don't know exactly whose debt they're purchasing, you could see the liquidity dry up for the federal home-owned bank system if the money funds leave, which in turn could squeeze the banks, big and small, that kind of rely on the system.
