I mean, I think it's noteworthy that Jamie Dimon, the head of JP Morgan, broke the $30 million a year compensation threshold
I believe, last year.
So you've sort of seen overall pay, I think, is kind of is less than what it was in the lead up to the crisis or around the crisis.
And banks have voluntarily implemented deferral windows and clawbacks for their officials or at least for their top officials.
I think the banks would say that they're doing that because they thought the regulators were going to impose these rules and they kind of wanted to get ready.
And then the regulators never actually completed them.
So now it'll be interesting to see.
I think some of the bankers we talked to, they think that they'll get a better deal, so to speak, with the Trump appointed nominees.
But they could also a lot of the banks may say, hey, hold up.
There's no need for rules.
We already do this.
You have the bank regulators, the main bank regulators of the Fed, the OCC, the FDIC,
The other folks involved here are one of the big market regulators, the SEC.
They oversee brokerage firms and asset managers.
You have a credit union agency.
You also have the overseer of Fannie and Freddie.
So their executives, Fannie and Freddie executives, would also be covered by a rule.
The 2016 proposal was pretty broad.
I mean, there was some industry pushback around
how many people it would have affected, which was tens of thousands of people, because it wasn't just the top executives out of these firms.
