Uh so we need to get higher rates of investment. matched

Uh this is almost guaranteed to produce it. matched

You're not just getting a tax rate. matched

uh a a a broader tax rate cut, you're just getting it o when you actually invest the money. matched

I think we have to pay attention to the the corporate tax rate at the same time because this measure is going to improve the incentive to make the marginal investment. matched

But we also have to one eye on on getting people giving people the incentive to locate in the country in the first place. matched

And the broader tax rate, the corporate tax rate is important for that. matched

But that being said, this is g this is uh the the best single thing they have done or any government's done in recent times. matched

To improve the likelihood of higher rates of investment, higher rates of productivity growth, higher rates of GDP growth. matched

So if I was gonna borrow for anything. matched

Uh it it it would be to to pay the cost of something like this, the upfront cost of it. matched

But the broader picture, as you say, is not encouraging. matched

Um and and we're gonna have to see in the upcoming budget uh how serious, if at all, they are about trying to get to come to grips with our deficit and debt situation. matched

They're claiming that their their preferred measure of balancing the operating budget is gonna happen one year ahead of ahead of time. matched

Um but that measure is is only good as uh so far that uh ultimately, even if it's borrowing for investment, you still have to borrow the money, you still have to pay interest on it. matched

Well, if if it was just a Christmas gift, I I agree. matched

But th that I do think you can distinguish this from other things. matched

First of all, compare this to other things that this government and the last have done to try to encourage productivity, where it involves including the investment summit for for that reason for that matter, where it's a lot to do with, you know, particular pet projects of this government or the provincial governments. matched
