But that's not what is animating the pr the president or
Sogan was closest advisors.
They don't want a deal.
What they want is continual leverage.
What they want is to use our dependence on America and and for trade and and and use the the tariffs, the weapons of trade policy.
um to force a whole bunch of different policy changes on this country, uh including limiting us from being able to strike trade agreements with other countries, including uh um limiting our our options when it comes to defense procurement, including um demanding first right of refusal on our resources and critical minerals, and a whole range of other things besides.
Uh and I I just don't see any end to where that goes.
That it that once you start down that road of making concessions to buy peace, um you you wind up getting all the concessions and none of the peace.
I have to say I disagree that anything was settled by that.
So the Europeans agreed to whatever it was, a twenty five percent uh tariff rate.
Uh, and not long after they'd struck that deal, he put new tariffs on them.
And that possibility or probability hangs over them all all the time.
This is not a president who honors his word.
This is not a president who keeps his promises.
Uh and and and so what are you actually buying by making any concession whatever?
You are not getting peace.
You're simply getting uh teed up for the next round of concessions.
And that's what they've learned to their cost.
And so a lot of countries are looking at us right now.
And this this this is getting a lot of coverage uh in international media.
