So uh yeah, they're the bigger country.

Um, yeah, we're more dependent on trade with them than they are with us.

But as we've seen in other types of conflicts, in asymmetric conflicts like this, the smaller party, if it's more unified, more determined, um, more um solidly based.

Um, can do a lot of damage and can can can stand its own against uh a larger, less r less solely based, less unified adversary.

I don't think we should.

I don't think we should validate

Um twenty five percent or fifteen percent tariffs within a free trade agreement.

Um I thi th if they're going to do that, they're going to do that.

I think we have very little ability to actually move them off that.

I don't think we can appease them and I don't think we can threaten them in any effective way.

So they're going to do what they're going to do.

But we should not be validating that.

We should not be ratifying or rewarding that.

And particularly we shouldn't be doing so if if we don't think and I don't think we don't think that's the case, if if if it's not actually going to solve anything.

So you can talk about there being, you know, a deal that was out there with some parts of the administration, but not the others.

Uh but the notion that that if we were to sign on to it that that would be the end of our troubles, I think, is kidding ourselves.

So we would be agreeing to things that we should not be agreeing to in terms of uh tariffs within a free trade agreement.

Um, and we would be facing the prospect of more to come.

Um so we just I think we just we have to get over the fantasy that there's something we can do to to move Donald Trump off of his favorite instrument of of tariffs.
