Uh so
Okay.
It's uh it uh uh that certainly puts things in front of us.
Uh um it's not clear I mean we have to always bear in mind it's not clear they'll actually do it because there'd be hell to pay within the United States if they do.
Now, Trump is again
unusually uh um impervious to these concerns to to to be doing this in the run up to
uh the November midterms, most presidents would say this is gonna cost my party
uh in the polls and I better not do it.
Uh um Trump doesn't care, um possibly because he's you know, well I just have to see how free and fair that election's going to be.
So it uh um
But nevertheless, as you say, it concentrates the mind.
The thing that that the the Canadians always have to be bearing in mind is.
First of all, do conce if you make concessions in this in the face of this threat, does it actually alleviate the threat or does it just incentivize further threats?
Secondly, uh if you get a deal uh by making the concessions, does this deal actually stick or does he just renege on it and impose tariffs later with some new demands?
So
Uh uh um uh I I still think the rag the puck
stretch things out as long as you can is a good strategy.
That's part of the reason why I think we will probably not see a deal on August the nineteenth.
My my my my betting money would be there'll be some agreement to keep talking.
Um now what I would say, sort of on the Americans side for once, is is uh um I forget whether I've said this before on this, but but uh
