You could actually see the flames.

We have large forest trees and when the fire hits that, it engulfs it in smoke.

It almost looks like they explode, and it's just one after another after another.

I mean, it moves so fast.

The wind is blowing the fire directly into town.

I don't have any more time.

It's like I have to move to plan B, and I have to move to plan B really fast.

I remember feeling like, you know, this is it.

This is where, you know, it's make or break.

We never had hooked it up before.

We had it wired in probably 40 minutes.

And then we threw the switch and crossed our fingers and hoped and prayed.

It's like, please run this pump.

And the pump took right off and started pumping.

I'm barely potentially moving up, but I'm at least maintaining.

I'm not losing ground on my reservoir.

By that time, we were in full firefight, dozens and dozens of apparatus in town.

Fire coming directly at us, only a couple miles away by that time, blown by heavy wind.

It was too small of a generator to operate for more than about hours at a time.

And then we'd have to let it sit for an hour or two and let it cool off.
