AFL can't provide legal advice to a club, they're a different entity but
They there were discussions post the um concussion panel about making sure that any player who goes through the panel and then is potentially still able to play that they understand the risks that come from um playing a contact sport when you've had one or two concussions or whatever the number is.
And so the advice that was provided then was in relation to that.
Could that have been used to to draft a waiver?
I think they're two different things.
I think, you know, consent and acknowledgement of risk are things that are, you know, contained either at common law or or in statutory obligations already.
So I think the waiver is the next step which is you know and that's the part that we're looking into why that you know, how did that get there?
Did those inquiries reach your office?
No, at that stage that was something that was handled from the sort of the legal and health care and insurance team.
Would it have set off alarm bells for you if it had reached your office?
Again, you you don't y c it's hard on hypotheticals, but I'd like to think that you would ask a question of why that was there.
Have you asked questions of of your staff as to precisely what went on?
Yeah, we've spok you know I've spoken to um you know the the team and got clear on you know where where their um you know advice or where their assistance
That is a that's a good question, Jared.
And I think that's if there you know when you have issues like this, there are learnings and I think one of the learnings from an AFL point of view will be um more formality around the can you know, there's it's a
really complicated issue and the and the the people who serve in our concussion panel, you know, we we take our health so to them because they are dealing with really complex issues.
But I think
Once that happens then the follow-through from there is something that you know we'll continue to learn on and and more more and more structure around that is important.

So it was in his when he was coming back into playing AFL after having retired, uh sorry, wanting to play AFL, playing at the lower level.
