Thus Templeman brought in a horn section, the session backing vocalists The BlackBries and Russ Titelman to make too much time into something that he thought had a genuine shot at being a hit single.
And there are other songs on the album that could fit in well with the rock mainstream of the time, like My Head is My Only House Unless It Rains and Her Eyes Are A Blue Million Miles, a song that appeared in the Big Lebowski soundtrack and was covered by The Black Keys and Joan Osborne.
But lest one think that Clear Spot is some kind of ultra commercialised version of Captain Beefart and the Magic Band.

The album also featured a Session Saxe player called Del Simmons, who was twenty years older than the rest of the band and had supposedly played with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, though I've never seen any lists of that band's members that included him.
