Um so Michael Frain is a brilliant comic writer, and towards the end of the morning is nineteen sixty-seven, he had worked at The Observer for several years before that, and it's set in what we think of as Golden Age Fleet Street, and it makes clear how shabby and miserable and what drudgery lots of Golden Age Fleet Street actually was like. matched

The hero is uh is his name's Dyson, and he works on the the kind of little crunchy bits of the newspaper, the what you know the nature notes or the crossword, or the all the bits which are not the glamorous upfront lobby style reporting, all of that. matched

And um it's at this time where television is massively in the ascendancy, incredible to remember now, uh where broadcast TV was the desirable thing, and um a lot of matched

Of it's about Dyson trying to get on TV, basically. matched

He's got an offer to go on and be on one of these discussion programmes, which is called something like New Perspectives. matched

It's one of these classic 60s style shows where you know blokes will matched

And uh he's been invited on to talk about something I think something like race relations, and it's because he's got an Indian neighbour. matched

I mean, it's incredibly flimsy and tenuous, and it sort of fraying is satirizing the politics of the time as well. matched

And he he goes on TV, he he completely muffs it. matched

He manages to go on TV, and all he does throughout his appearance is whenever anyone said anything, he says, That really is exciting. matched
