I'm Andrew Limbong.
There's something charming about reading a novel where the protagonist is, for lack of a better term,
Kind of dumb.
They make bad decision after bad decision.
And yet, if the writer is good enough, you can't help but root for them.
That's the case in Daytona Teddy Riggs, the debut novel from Drew Buxton.
It's about a guy trying to win a world's strongest man competition, and he's so obsessed with this goal that other aspects of his life fall by the wayside.
The book is a satire that's looking at masculinity, the self-help industry, and how it's a lot easier to overhead press 100 pounds than it is to be honest about yourself.
Buxton talks to MPR's Danielle Kevin.
