Well, the Made in Europe rules would be a direct contravention of not only the terms, but the spirit of the framework trade agreement that was agreed to in Scotland, because we've agreed not to have those kinds of preferences between our two countries.
And I think adopting them would be a serious mistake, I would say, particularly in the area of defense.
The only substantial meaningful fines that have been imposed so far have been against American companies.
So at some point, if you're an American company, you've got to sit back and say, look, am I being targeted here?
Or is this is this an effort to try and advantage European competitors over U.S.
companies?
And if that's the case, it's something that the United States needs to respond to.
And I believe the vice president has been very active in that respect.
