You know, all of that just meant to me that, you know, that's kind of basically what you should do, what you're being asked to do.
And all religions have their versions of the same thing.
So I know some people think it's controversial to say religion and politics shouldn't mix, but they kind of, they are part of the same thing to me.
I remember coming into parliament in, um,
in that period in the early 2000s.
And somebody who was a Greater Manchester MP called Paul Goggins, he was much more Catholic than me in terms of very devout, but he found, he singled me out because he realized we had a shared background and he became something of a mentor to me.
And I'll never forget Paul saying to me, he said, Andy, in here, there are just so many people who come in here, get a bit of power, and then...
kind of give that power to people who've already got a lot of power because they want to ingratiate themselves and get things from people who've got power he said that's the last thing you should do give your power to people who've got none that's why you're here
And so Paul was like massive in terms of prisoner welfare and homelessness and refugees.
He really said to me, that's why you are here.
And I'll never forgot that.
And some of my work on homelessness has been very much influenced by Paul.
But to me, that is bringing a sort of faith perspective to politics.

That's an exception really in terms of Paul was an exception to the norm, but that's why, you know, I remember him and I like talking about him because he should be talked about.
He was an incredible influence on my life.
They're not falling off.
I get accused.
This is one thing from my dad, actually.
I can be great.
