Any Catholic would know.
We all have that gene within us.
Yeah, the Catholic Church, I don't know.
It kind of changes through time.
But the Catholic Church in my youth was always quite irreverent, quite Irish in terms of the priests we used to come into contact with, a big emphasis on humor.
And it became a bit more judgmental, I think, in the 2000s.
I was a big supporter of Pope Francis because I thought he brought back the humour, the humanity, the slightly live and let live approach that had been lost by his predecessor.
I think so.
I had a job to persuade my dad that I should study English at Cambridge.
He kept saying, well, what are you going to do with a job like that?
As you said at the start, he came from an engineering background.
And I kept saying to him, no, I like it.
And then I found...
In a poem I got really interested in by a poet called Tony Harrison, who was a poet from Leeds.
And he was quite controversial at the time in the 80s.
He wrote a poem called V that was on Channel 4 and it was full of swear words.
But to me, my English teacher said, you'll like this because you'll relate to it.
And I put this video on of his poem.
And I realized for the first time in my life that poetry could have a northern accent.
And that was quite a thing.
