the whole reason the coma pods and all that stuff was in there was I needed an excuse for there to just be one person.
I didn't want to tell the story of a crew.
I wanted to tell the story of one person and putting this mission together.
They wouldn't just send one person.
I needed it to make sense.
Okay.
Yeah.
They sent a crew of three, but only one of them survived the journey.
Right.
It would be more of an ensemble cast.
It wouldn't be about Ryland Grace.
And that's, I mean, I just, from the start, I wanted him to be by himself.
I mean, I always wanted to be a writer.
Even when I was a teenager, I was writing.
I graduated high school in 1990.
The software market was just beginning, kind of, at that time.
And I was into them.
I liked them.
But I also wanted to be a writer, so I kind of, like, weighed my options when it was time to go to college.
