What is it about this case that really catches your attention other than being an Australian?

I think, was it 2022 or 2023 you were down there recording?

yeah and really good stuff and like you say you took your iPhone down there not planning on building a documentary but given the quality of iPhones these days the cameras are superb you've got all these witnesses and you get hours of content from them talking to them now 60 years on and you spoke you mentioned about these people meeting up every year it must be very therapeutic for a lot of them too and I'll come to Shane on this soon but Joy Ty

so that might be something people bear in mind when you're looking this up and some of the names change people have been married divorced all that stuff since then they were children when this happened um she says why and you mentioned about that rapid response this is something shane's documented so well she says why would you have the army the air force the men in black all here for a weather balloon

now first off how much of that is well documented but I also want to pick on that men in black part because I wonder is there an element to this story and this is something that's really common folks are going to ask with that passage of time what are the stories like over the years and decades and we'll come to Grant first then Shane have they changed considerably are the stories still the same and is there something to being in that kind of group

where other people's testimony things that people have said or mentioned just with the passing of time bleed into your own story not through any nefarious means or lying but you begin to pick things up and almost misremember

So I think speaking in generally in what you've been saying the last 10 minutes quite often in the UFO topic and with many topics you would look for quality over quantity but I think in the case of Westall and uniquely I think many of the school cases Rua Zimbabwe and such

The quantity is just as important because of the sheer number of witnesses.

The fact are so many young children, like you mentioned, Grant, the fact you've got Paul who's outside of the school perimeter and so many people, like you say, Shane, now over 140 pieces of testimony.

for an event you can't look past that quantity it's very very important so i want to bring up one other thing though that i find really important is the time this happens 1966 um is the cold war era now australia was deeply tied to western defense structures i had to look up some of this it was it was drawn into the vietnam conflict at the time as well it was very much backing the us as an ally and i wonder how much did that

heightened state of military alertness around the world potentially play into the response of the military the air force on you know ununiformed figures turning up afterwards shane that's right i mean context of course is everything and as you say it was a cold war time and

and I wonder given that the evidence tampering that's clearly gone on given that huge response given the strangely prompt response and given that the mass sighting if you take away the UFO aspect the flying saucer aspect
