So basically what's about to happen is Jezebel is absolutely enraged about the death of her prophets.

Elijah literally got rid of all of the prophets of Baal.

And one of the reasons why that is so hard is because those prophets told Jezebel everything she wanted to hear.

So they fueled her pride and they fueled her power and they made her this like big – she was like a queen.

She was like a goddess.

And so getting rid of all of these prophets was not only a hit to her power but to her pride as well.

And so Jezebel is so angry at Elijah.

And let's read this.

So when Ahab got home, he told Jezebel everything Elijah had done, including the way he had killed all the prophets of Baal.

So Jezebel sent this message to Elijah.

May the gods strike me and even kill me if by this time tomorrow, I have not killed you just as you killed them.

So we have Jezebel giving a crazy threat to Elijah.

And imagine this, the next verse is Elijah was afraid and fled for his life.

What is so important about this scene right here is you have to understand Elijah is this incredibly anointed servant of God, direct access to God, calls on the name of the Lord and sees the manifestation of God on earth.

he saw God, if not in the flesh, like he saw God.

He saw such a powerful move of God.

You would think that he's on a high being like, I have the God of Israel, the God of the universe protecting me.

Like I've seen his power, so I know he'll protect me.

And in this moment,

Because Jezebel threatened him.
