And then the nation at this point is spiritually divided, torn between the God of their ancestors and the false promises of Baal.

So before we even start reading, we see how this matches up with today about how their God promises to provide, protect, be there for them.

But then they have this false God promising them the thing that they need.

And it feels like their God is an answer because it's been three years of drought.

So they've become so desperate that they've said, we'll try something else.

So obviously, this is a story all about idolatry.
