We ended up paying rent in two places for a year. matched

thinking that we were moving in June of twenty twenty five and then that fell through because we couldn't get our visas. matched

And so I had to rent another apartment while paying for rent in Portugal. matched

So like when I think about more expensive, that wasn't just the only thing where we had to pay for utilities and furnish the apartment in Lisbon and all the travel back and forth and and and and okay, all the paperwork. matched

Like it just is a never ending list. matched

It ended up taking as long as it took. matched

And now, looking back at it. matched

I'm so glad it took that long because I wouldn't be sitting in the magic house. matched

I would not have been coming back and forth as much as I was to my apartment in Lisbon, our family apartment from Chapel Hill. matched

And I used our apartment in Lisbon as a retreat for my colleague and I, Sarah. matched

To come retreat and plan for twenty twenty six. matched

We wanted to work on our businesses and have spaciousness just like everything I do and host on retreats. matched

We wanted to do that for ourselves and get away from our everyday life so we could have the spaciousness and not have to worry about all that domestic stuff. matched

To let our brains expand and be creative. matched

Had it worked out the way that I thought it was going to, that wouldn't have happened. matched

Sarah wouldn't have come to my house and spent a week. matched

I wouldn't have wanted to retreat with my whole family enmeshed in that situation, especially in that timing when the kids would have just started school. matched

So I don't know if the magic house would have existed. matched
