So with these strategies and policies that are in place in Broward Next, some municipalities, I'll speak specifically for Pompano Beach, put together a multimodal task force to see how it affects them and their city, what they can do to be proactive. podcast-host

for us she's fantastic she's then we made it a standing committee she's now the chair of the standing committee for two years but they are looking at how we and and they have input on what we're doing at the county level but how it's going to affect the city of pompano beach and our neighbors right deerfield beach and south so we have taken that kind of regional approach to it based on what's in our plan and what we're doing today is saying okay is this still the right way to go with the overall arching plan but the cities podcast-host

So I think, I mean, from my perspective, generally speaking, the aim of the strategies is generally positive.

And I think most would say that, you know, the incorporation of this into our transportation planning would, generally speaking, be a plus.

I mean, however it is that it's phrased, it would generally be a plus.

But in the fullest spirit of support of our partners, I think something has to be mentioned, and I've mentioned it before.

When the people voted, for example, for the Surtax projects, I think there was a greater sense of urgency expected that these projects would be completed while they were still alive.

And what we have seen is a...

a favoritism of financing approach toward pay as you go.

And pay as you go is probably the best way to finance anything, except when pay as you go isn't enough money to do the job.

And when pay as you go favors not getting the job done in a way that respects the urgency of people to need the transportation improvements that they're paying for, pay as you go is actually the more expensive approach.

I do not understand how.

It just doesn't compute for me, and I've asked this before, and I've never really gotten...

Mayor, a satisfactory answer to this question, but I do not understand why, with a recurring source of revenue, we are not looking to finance these projects in a way that applies urgency to the completion of them.

We've seen some really, really good surtax projects, but most of them are just not getting done.
