I think it's going to be one of the biggest issues in the next couple of elections, really.

I mean, the AI build-out has been so massive.

Microsoft, just alone, has been planning to double their data center footprint over the next two years.

And that's just one of the many companies that are building out these data centers

I think that this is really impacting local communities.

And the example that I think back to is, you know, one that we've reported on at The Information, which is in Memphis, Tennessee.

Their ex-AI, Elon Musk's AI company, has a really big data center presence.

And they have been doing all sorts of things like sponsoring local light shows, hosting local events, trying to win over the local community online.

Which is one approach, you know, and that's really different from what Microsoft has done, which is saying that, okay, we're actually going to be paying more.

So we're going to see a lot of these different tech companies and politicians try to win over the hearts and minds of the people and show that this AI data center build out is not going to be a burden on them and their utilities that they pay for on a daily basis.

Yeah, it seems that the community backlash so far has been really effective and we'll see whether that continues.

But my guess is that it will and that consumers are going to continue putting pressure on the utilities, on the government, on their local politicians and national politicians to make sure that we're not absorbing the costs of this data center build out.

I think this is huge because Apple for a while was sort of sitting on the sidelines when it came to AI and Siri.

And under the current arrangement, Apple can route some of their Siri queries to OpenAI's models.

And so this really marks a big shift from the alliance with OpenAI with ChatGPT and is a really big win for Google.

Yeah, it's huge.

And I think owning the iPhone, I mean, we saw how important that was with regular traditional search, and now that's the same issue is playing out in AI.

Yeah, Google sort of came out from behind on this one.

And it's funny because if you look at their stock price, that's very much reflected.

You'll see that when AI first sort of, when Gen AI first became a thing, everyone was concerned that, okay, this is going to really cannibalize Google search revenues.
