But I like to think it keeps the reader engaged.
What's with the horse, they keep saying to themselves.
It is a beautiful painting, and it was done by my friend Noah Satterstrom here in Nashville, who did the cover for The Dutch House.
He's amazing.
And I own both of those paintings.
They are hanging in my house.
But he's a really, really good friend.
And I called him up and I was like, hey, I need a horse that's looking straight ahead at the viewer.
And he said, their eyes are on the side of their head.
Horses don't look straight ahead.
I was like, make it work.
I need a horse.
So Daphne is with her husband, Jonathan, and Jonathan says, oh, you know, some guy is looking at you.
It's an old guy looking at you.
