But this year, just for a variety of technical reasons, the Part B premium actually jumped significantly for those 70% of people.
I think it went from something like $109 a month to $134 a month.
So that may actually, I mean, the speculation from the people who put together this survey is that that may have caused some of this concern about medical costs.
It is a big jump.
Yeah, that's typically the case.
Because when you think about people who are working, even if they're, you know, say 10, 15 years from retirement, there's a substantial amount of uncertainty that those people have as to what's going to happen over the next 10 to 15 years of the stock market.
Is the stock market going to do well?
Are my returns from bonds going to be
you know, adequate.
Am I going to, is my health going to be good?
Am I going to be able to keep my job?
So there's so many questions that I think workers have that retirees don't have.
Retirees are in retirement and they're actually somehow generally making things work.
So I think that, you know, they're generally more confident, the retirees are, than the workers are.
Well, you know, I guess if you equate confidence and happiness.
Right.
So actually, just to be clear, the almost half that said the value of their savings is below $25,000, that includes all workers.
So it's not just the 65% who are saving.
It's everybody.
So it includes a lot of people who are saving nothing, who have zero in that equation, which is to say it's still not good that almost half of American workers are saying that the value of their savings, excluding their home equity, is below $25,000.
