And also, we might even also look at our gastroscopies and start wondering why we've got mixed lists with people having gastroscopies when, in fact, the likelihood of finding a cancer is maybe eight times more likely in the colon than it is
Well, I think it's a really important point that not all colonoscopies are created equal.
If you have a colonoscopy where the bowel prep's not good and so the colonoscopist can't see the bowel, then lesions are going to be missed.
Likewise, if the colonoscopist is not up to date with how to detect polyps and how to remove polyps completely, then the colonoscopy outcome is not great for you either.
So, and I'd go back to the previous point about waiting lists.
If you're having suboptimal PrEP, then you have to have a repeat colonoscopy.
That really mucks up the waiting list.
Good PrEP, there's good guidelines, but we need to be talking to people through the PrEP what not to have in the week before, how to take the PrEP, what to do with their medications.
There's evidence now about splitting PrEP.
So you have half of it or two out of three the night before and you have your third one three to six hours before your next procedure.

It would be a very interesting study to do.
Yeah, we all know anecdotally, and we see on our lists every time, we see patients who haven't got good PrEP.
The important thing from the standards is we've now said it's an indicator.
We're now going to measure the percentage of colonoscopists
procedures where the prep is inadequate and and to be recertified you have to meet the benchmark for both polyp detection in those over 50 in bowel prep and getting all the way around the colon
Yes, yeah.
And so that means then that people across the country are having a high-quality colonoscopy.
They don't have to repeat it because of bad prep.
