How do you see advancing tech demanding change from the health care industry?
Many of the market forces you outline that can potentially change healthcare are focused on whole person care or patient-centered care.
Yes.
What are the benefits of this approach and what innovations in care model design give you the most hope for the future?
Your last market force is around empowering caregivers.
How do you see the role of caregivers evolving and what do caregivers need in terms of support from the health system to be effective?
You've described a number of really transformative changes.
We're talking about a $5 trillion chunk of our economy that has sometimes been extremely slow to accept change.
Can you help us feel more optimistic about health care's ability to change and evolve?
Well, in closing, like you, I am a literature and history buff, and I loved all the references in the book.
Particularly, you ended with a chapter called Guns and Butter.
I'd love for you to explain this analogy to our listeners and whether or not you believe it's possible to achieve a state in health care with both guns and butter.
And if you look into your crystal ball, how do you think the system looks in five to 10 years?
Well, we can all be excited about that, Paul.
I always leave conversations with you feeling inspired and with many, many ideas about how to transform healthcare.
So thank you so much for taking the time with us.
