And that's generally viewed as a very positive thing. matched

Because often when people check, they become nervous and they start making changes that aren't necessarily in their interest. matched

So what Tiro is saying and what they're noticing is that there's a beneficial aspect to the fact that people don't do much to their accounts. matched

And so they're trying to kind of capitalize on that by raising the equity allocations with the confidence that people aren't going to then freak out and make trades. matched

Well, you know, given the fact that the S&P is flirting with bear market territory, which means it's down close to 20%, yes, these increasing equity allocations in many of these target date funds, that definitely exposes people to greater risk of losses. matched

It's possible. matched

I mean, we're just going to have to wait and see. matched

And so far, year to date, there doesn't seem to be much evidence for that. matched

So the companies that I spoke to, including Vanguard, which is the number one target date provider in the country, and T. Rowe Price, which is the number three, neither one of them has seen significant upticks in trading activity within target date funds or even within 401k plans in general. matched

Older investors may be more likely to focus on the stock and bond allocations within these funds, and they may be more likely to have some degree of discomfort with the fact that they have a higher exposure to stocks now than they might have thought that they did. matched

And so they might be more likely to trade. matched

I mean, so far, you know, generally we see that older investors trading within target date funds are trading slightly more than younger investors are, but they're not trading a huge amount. matched

So we don't really see older investors fleeing these funds right now. matched

But, you know, who knows? matched

I mean, if the market continues to go down, we may see that older investors and we may even see younger investors have some degree of concern about these allocations. matched
