Well, I said a couple of things to your original question.
And then you have court races in Pennsylvania.
not to mention more African-American mayors, as I understand it, on the ballot this cycle than perhaps any other cycle.
So all these races are important.
They're important for a number of reasons for the Democratic Party.
So whether magnomics, Trumpism,
and all the things that have galvanized the modern-day Republican Party, whether they stand without Donald Trump being on the ballot.
But third, most importantly, it gives us a chance to really see where independent thinkers and independent voters are.
They were very decisive in the 2024 election, so we're going to see that.
And then the traditional versus non-traditional Republicans, the MAGA movement versus traditional Republicans, we'll see if they come back out and what that means for their movement.
happy that folks are energized and galvanized around New York.
It's going to matter in Virginia.
It's going to matter in New Jersey.
Certain issue quality is going to matter in California.
That's a big eye-opening thing, and I think that is how we measure what the future of the Democratic Party looks like, our ability to recruit candidates who can win anywhere and talk to anyone.
Clay, I'll say this to some of your points.
Number one, I think that Mikey was never a style type of candidate, even when she ran for Congress.
Now, that does not dismiss the fact that she should not take the most consequential voter block in the history of this country for granted in Black voters.
But on the other side of that, she also has to make certain that she wins over independent thinkers
and non-traditional voters because New Jersey was so close in its past statewide elections.
