In Oakwood, Georgia, the Trump administration bought a warehouse just a mile away from City Hall.
City Manager Beer White said the local government was left totally in the dark.
As the deal finalized, White reached out for clarity, but at last check has still received no response.
From added sewer costs, to increased security demands, to local protests, having a detention center in the middle of town is a big change.
The city is left to deal with the fallout all on its own.

The winter storm is pummeling homes and infrastructure with hazardous snow and ice.
States including Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana report widespread power outages.
Freezing rain is the culprit.
It creates a layer of ice on power lines and tree limbs, causing them to snap and fall.
National Weather Service forecaster Corey Chaskolson says freezing rain is also dangerous to drivers.
Hundreds of crashes have been reported across the region.
