I've noticed that a lot with politicians.
They use the word big to signify that something is important, but without explaining what its importance is, if you see what I mean.
It makes them something more serious.
Totally.
And it's very much pivoting onto the sort of, I'm getting on with the job.
I'm looking at the big...
I made the big calls.
Yeah, you're trying to bring me down about some minor illegal cheese and wine party that I might have had, whereas I'm looking at the big things.
Well, you're not.
You're just avoiding.
You're naming the big things rather than calling them big.
But any other phrases then?
Well...
For example, at the 2019 general election, we are there in some factory in Coventry where they make electric London black cabs.
And the big Tory slogan behind Boris Johnson is unleash Britain's potential.
And every single prime minister, at least since Thatcher, because I have checked, has used a version, if not the identical version of that phrase.
And in December of last year, Starmer gave a speech where he talked about how his reforms of this or that are going to unlock Britain's potential.
And I'm like, well...
If everyone's promised, it's sort of like the gold standard, like the reserves on which politics is dependent, is this potential which must never be unleashed.
Because if you allow it to get anywhere, then no one's got any promises they can make.
