I don't think, if they're smart, they shouldn't complicate
their case.
If they really believe they have a real bad guy on their hands, they should focus on the bad guy, charge him appropriately, don't do what they did in the P. Diddy case and overcharge.
Don't do what they did in the state court in the Luigi Mangione case and overcharge so that the judge is dismissing charges because that's just a bad look for a prosecutor.
It doesn't look like you're fair and impartial because a prosecutor is supposed to be fair and impartial.
They're supposed to do the right thing.
Defense attorneys are supposed to zealously represent their client.
A prosecutor has a
quasi-judicial role.
They're supposed to do what they believe is right, not what's going to make them win.
So if I'm the lead prosecutor, unless there's something glaring that Melissa did, I'm going to more or less leave her alone and say, look, we got these kids, we got this affidavit, we have all of this evidence, we got these very serious charges, we got the guy in jail, let's prosecute the defendant we have in front of us for the crimes that we think he committed, put our best prosecutors on it, and work our tails off to get a conviction.
And you just made a point that even eluded me.
Also that he, no disrespect to Harvey and TMZ, but like if it's something this serious and this heartfelt and this, and you're so devastated.
I mean, I know I alluded to Dershowitz.

There's a little bit of a difference between TMZ and the New York Times.

You know, in terms of seriousness.
I mean, TMZ's got a role to play and they play it well.
