Just as we witnessed during the uprisings after the murder of George Floyd, many white Americans began for the very first time to acknowledge racism, white supremacy, and the horrors it produces if it is allowed to go unchecked.
While many of their efforts were token,
and genocide.
Over 30,000 have died and a half a million displaced, while in 1948, when they left, they took keys like these.
But now they have nothing, not even a key to come back to because everything is being destroyed.
That's why we're here tonight to say, we're calling for a ceasefire now.

Good evening, Madam Mayor, Council, Mr. Manager.
My name's Arthur Griffin, and I serve you all as your county commissioner at large.
However, tonight I'm here as a private citizen who resides at 16822 Crosshaven Drive.
You know, a picture's worth a thousand words.
So what you're seeing right now in front of you is a picture of an event that occurred in November of this past year.
As a result of living in a communications dead zone, there was a huge delay in getting first responders to put out the fire.
So I got involved to try to find out what was the cause of that.
And what I found out is that it's more than just the first responders.
It's your boys and girls in blue, our guys and girls that are in green, because when officers get outside of their police cars, they have an inability to communicate with their handheld radios.
So this is a critical issue for us in terms of health and safety in that part of the county.
What I'm told by your staff is that this problem has been going on for years.
