Recently, Madrid hosted the Bloomberg City Lab, a forum looking at the challenges facing cities worldwide.
One panel discussion looked at how vocational training schemes can connect young people with real jobs.
Do you think that works better than perhaps a young person who goes to university, gets a degree in law, for example, then comes out looking for work?

Amila Zubovich who tells me that you are from the best university in the world ETH in Zurich I mean I was listening to your to your talk and you were saying something really interesting about how important it is that courses which are designed by companies are actually designed that give something practical to students can you tell me a little bit more about that
I've got Ricardo Espinoza from the OECD.
Ricardo, just very briefly explain what the OECD is because you're quite an important organisation.
How do you view this scenario worldwide, I guess, in terms of young people trying to, especially now in this world with AI becoming such a powerful factor, for these young people getting careers in jobs that they want rather than jobs that are there because they're needed?
So cost comes into it.
So are you, as the OECD, also talking to countries or talking to companies within nations to say, well, actually, you are going to have to put an outlay, but perhaps in the long run, this is beneficial?
As we are sitting here in Madrid, how do you view the scenario in Spain?
Because we have a very interesting situation where the economy has been doing very well in the last two or three years, but unemployment rates still remain high and they're also quite high amongst youth.
As graduates spill out of university ready for the job market, they're facing a lack of opportunities to work in their specialised fields.
Today, more companies in Spain are filling that gap by providing internships.
But also, more needs to be done in areas such as vocational training to provide a skill set for sectors of the labour market where there is plenty of work.
