Five years after Nkechi was born, her mum gave birth to her little brother.
Her mum also had custody of her younger nephew at this time and Nkechi thinks of him as a sibling.
Between looking after her siblings and navigating the chaos of home, school fell by the wayside.
when she wasn't at school, she was making the most of her freedom in one of London's busiest boroughs.
In some ways, her childhood sounds pretty typical of any young person, out looking for fun and mischief.
But there was a lot more going on.
When I asked Nkechi about this, about what kind of trouble she means, she's understandably a little vague.
At this point, I can imagine Nkechi's life looking like a bunch of pots on a stove and the temperature is rising.
She's trying her best to keep on top of all of them.
then suddenly, when she was 12, the pots started to boil over.
Nkechi moved in with a friend and their mother.
Nkechi's relationship with her own mum had deteriorated.
It just wasn't working.
I've asked Nkechi what she remembers about the reasons for her mum signing the Section 20.
She tells me it was a mixture of things.
They were the experiences she had outside the home after getting mixed up in the wrong crowd.
The trauma this caused escalated the conflicts with her mum and they fought in a way that made it impossible for them to live together.
Over the time I've gotten to know Nkechi, she's always held the actual details of these experiences with her family back a bit.
