And all of this comes together because I had the physical LP and the liner notes, you know, where they give credit to the producer and they have all the lyrics written out.

If the band likes Amnesty International, whatever that is, I'm going to find out more.
And I went to my student center and the first thing I did with Amnesty International was an anti-apartheid candlelight.
My awareness of racial oppression, both abroad and in my own life, being a part of an all-white club at that time.
My best friend was black.
She was the cook.
She was the employee.
And then I'm sitting there reading in this all-white club about Amnesty International.
And Larry Mullins Jr., who drums for the band, of course, said this list.

And I was like, this is all mind blowing.
And I think my life just changed in a very significant way.
And it did.
I think the answer in a way is no, because suffering is everywhere.
It's not that when I started, when I was trusted enough to be asked to do international work 27 years ago, I was very aware that I wasn't
traveling to Bangladesh or traveling to Sri Lanka or traveling to Madagascar or Ukraine or Turkey or Georgia.
the suffering like suffering is inside of us everyone suffers it's a part of the human condition and there there's all kinds of suffering in our homes and our communities and it it just turned out that the way that God of my understanding and God at work in my life put me in a lot of these international contexts and what I really connected with was the unmet needs that I had growing up
as a girl who didn't have medically accurate sex education who had women in our family who had unintended pregnancies or sometimes were impregnated by male sexual violence like incest and rape and so it's the same story it's just in different places and the end of
