inner liberation, inner emancipation, inner freedom.

And the purpose of forgiveness is really not about the perpetrator.

It's about the purpose of not just healing, but ultimately growth in my life.

and being able to go anywhere anytime and not only just be okay but to flourish and have joy and mirth and delight and to see the world there's this beautiful poem i read this morning by mary oliver where um you know heaven is not laid out flat in miles like it's not a destination or as friar richard gore says it's not an evacuation plan the kingdom of god is here inside of me right now and i do have to forgive for myself in order

to access that inner liberation.

And so, you know, getting to that place becomes really spacious and really easy, a sense of ease inside and resourcefulness.

And I was gonna be in the state of Kentucky and I thought, yeah, maybe I'll try to see this guy.

And it was really, really sweet because my partner, who's both loyal and smart, he said, you might wanna tell him that you come in peace.

And I did reach out in a condition

and an open-hearted place of friendship.

You know, whether or not there had been harm in the relationship, this is someone at the time I had known for, I guess, 50 years.

That's half a century.

It's half of 100 years.

And, you know, we all have stories that we carry inside of us.

And part of the joy at this stage of my recovery is the perspective taking.

You know, I will always stand with myself.

I will always stand for myself.

I will not abandon myself.

I will not betray myself.

And today I'm so grateful to live in that both and where it includes the perspective taking of other people, even when they have committed harm.
