I showed up for you.
When Congress finally asked you in 2024 what science supported that evidence, six foot distance rule for COVID, you admitted you were not aware of any studies supporting it.
Incredibly, you said the six foot rule sort of just appeared.
You called our governor, Governor DeSantis, and I'm going to quote this so I get it right, right out of your journals, a total jerk.
That he is a complete disgrace, that he is blocking local authorities from mandating masks in various locations, including schools.
And you were very concerned and upset that we were actively, and I'm gonna quote, criticizing you, and we talked virtually every day about being wrong on everything.
And what is astounding is that you wrote you feared because of that, because we were questioning our government, because we were fighting back for the truth from our government, from scientifically based recommendations, because we were pushing for that.
You said you feared that our democracy is in dire danger.

You know, I'm the most junior member of the Senate here, showing from where I sit.
I just got here last year.
Many of you may remember I was the attorney general in Florida who fought back against the lockdowns, the school closures, the church closures, everything to embrace sanity and science.
We fought back.
We got ridiculed for it.
And we didn't just call people names.
We actually impaneled a grand jury of people of all walks of life, all political persuasions.
So that's how I came here, fighting for a free state amongst states that had locked their own people down.
We are now called the Free State of Florida.
And I believe our responsibility here is to make sure that government remembers the people are our bosses, that we report to them, that we're accountable to them.
