When recommendations are based on assumptions rather than hard data, they need to say so.

The next time public health officials genuinely need Americans to listen, millions of people may simply ignore them or not believe them.

You said, it's not hyperbole to say I've become the most famous and talked about person in the country.
So I wanna understand how we got here.
Let's start at the beginning.
On March 8th, 2020, you appeared on 60 Minutes to discuss the spread of COVID-19.
You were specifically asked to clear up the confusion and misinformation surrounding masks.
You told the American people, right now in the United States, people should not be walking around with a mask.
The interviewer immediately stopped you and said, are you sure of it?
Because people are listening really closely to this.
And instead of walking back or qualifying your statement in any way, you doubled down.
There's no reason to be walking around with a mask when you're in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little better.
