And amid all these warnings that AI is going to kill us in a doomsday scenario, President Trump came out and said, we're not slowing down.

There's no regulation.

So if if a cabinet official says, hey, vote for this Republican congressman and in the panoply of things that, you know, watchdog groups are worrying about, it's not top of the list, to be frank.

I think that's about right, because, you know, a lot of Republicans did not think this was a good use of time or money.

They you know, if you're actually focused on winning the midterms, they wanted to be campaigning in their districts, in their states, you know.

let alone for some of them, depending on the district or the state, aligning themselves with a president who's quite unpopular and whose policies are quite unpopular.

But nonetheless, you still saw a number of them travel to Dallas despite not really wanting to, because as Tom said, Trump is the leader of this party and he demanded a midterm convention.

So he got one.

Well, I sort of understand Carney and his response going back to a speech he gave much earlier this year at Davos, where he basically said, you know, the world order as we, I'm paraphrasing here, but the world order as we know it is over.

And, you know, all of these sort of smaller countries have always, you know, supplicated themselves to the United States for protection or for deals or for various reasons.

And that's no longer a good strategy for us.

And so I think Carney's response in this trade war is him sort of acting on those principles he laid out at Davos.

And one thing that was so striking to me when you look at the back and forth, and it looks like both sides had issues.

It's hard to point specifically to which side blew up the most recent deal.

But one thing that comes through is

is Trump has talked about wanting Canada to be a 51st state, and that mainly seems to be trolling, except not entirely.

There's always a kernel of truth with everything Trump does.

But in these negotiations, it feels like the American side has sort of internalized the idea that Canada is less a sovereign nation and more a 51st state.
