And it was the only way that we got rid of inflation.

And so in central bank circles.

And got Reagan elected, basically.

Yeah.

They look back at Paul Volcker as the superhero of central banking.

And he was like six foot eight.

He was a giant in every way.

He used to say, our job is to act.

The market's job is to react.

And let's not get the order mixed up.

And I try to carry that.

That's interesting.

So I do think it matters.

The psychology of the market matters.

But there's nothing in the Federal Reserve Act.

The law says that we are to maximize employment and stabilize prices.

And those are the two jobs.

There's nothing in there that says, make sure the stock market is happy.

Make sure nobody's disappointed.
